Today's "Do" is - Reuse and Re-purpose.
We like to re-use and re-purpose as much as we can. We turned an antique washstand into a kitchen island. Before that, we used a pair of old cabinets to make a coffee bar in the breakfast room.
One of our DIY projects was to remove a pair of cabinets from the laundry room. They were narrow and very tall, and I couldn't reach them. We stashed them in the shed, figuring we'd eventually do something with them.
That something was a coffee bar. Joey used a 2x4 to make a base for the cabinets to sit on, cutting the corners on a miter saw. He screwed the cabinets together, and added a piece of plywood to the top. We used few pieces of leftover tile from our counter-top project and a couple of coats of paint, and we had a coffee bar! Total cost: $15 for a fresh tub of grout and a piece of molding.
If you don't have any cabinets lurking in your shed, take a trip to your local Habitat Re-Store or a local salvage yard. You'll save yourself some money and reduce the amount of usable materials in the landfill.

Love your ideas!!
